You were lucky. In India, lots of music came here late, or if you happened to have somebody visiting from abroad. I heard Dire Straits' first album courtesy a friend from Dubai. And in 79, when I joined college, the music I heard was Led Zep, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart (for some odd reason) and a lot the techno Giorgio Moroder type of rubbish with zaftig German women.
