Road Trip

Watch the end of the world through your windshield;

All those long, unnaturally straight lines

Carving through forests, hills, fields — endless shrines

Ruthlessly built up through land left unhealed.

Civilization smashes past in great,

Roaring contraptions of steel, plastic, glass,

Smashing insects, sacrificing dogs. Crass,

Blind, deaf and oblivious to their fate.

We travel, we speed, in our battle tank

Of insolent luxury, we laugh

And enjoy tiny lives, while the graph

Of destruction leaves our hearts and minds blank.

Our small joys have unseen repercussions

Look, see, breathe in before you take your decisions.
